“The most beautiful bookstore in the world”
El Ateneo Grand Splendid is a former theater first opened in 1919 and converted into a bookstore-café in 2000. The stage has been transformed into a café, the balconies into cozy reading areas, and the aisles into shelves packed with books. Its stunning architecture is guaranteed to leave you breathless, but we will let you decide for yourself if it truly is the most beautiful bookstore in the world.

The obelisk
The Obelisk
The true emblem of the city, the Obelisco de Buenos Aires was inaugurated on May 23, 1936, to mark the fourth centenary of the city’s first founding. You can easily admire it from Plaza de la República, or head to this handy little viewing platform: Av. Pres. Roque Sáenz Peña 1124, C1048 Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina.
