While its location is absolutely breathtaking, we didn't find the town itself to be particularly beautiful; other towns and villages in Patagonia definitely had more charm. About Our Travel Guides

Our guides also reflect our commitment to more responsible travel. We favour overland transport, locally-run shops and restaurants, family-run accommodation, and ethical alternatives to mass-tourism attractions. No lecturing, just concrete choices that make travel better for everyone.

From South America to Europe and Southeast Asia, every destination is covered with detailed itineraries, interactive maps and real budgets. Before you zip up your backpack, dive into our guides: resources made by travellers, for travellers, so you can set off with peace of mind and miss nothing.

Our guides mainly cover South America (Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador), Southeast Asia (Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia) and Europe (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece). Every guide is built for backpackers on a limited budget: we favour affordable places to stay, local restaurants where you can eat for a few euros, and free or low-cost activities.

What makes our guides different is that they always build in an eco-conscious approach. We recommend overland transport over domestic flights, homestays over hotel chains, and experiences that support the local economy over mass-market attractions. You'll also find a "Travel responsibly" box with tips specific to each destination.

Guides made by backpackers, for backpackers. Read them before you leave, save the maps to your phone, and use them right there on the ground.

We're Tristan and Mathilde. A French duo who set off for a year of backpacking across South America, with one conviction: the best memories are made along the way. De Sacs et d'Eau is our travel blog, with complete guides, itineraries tested on the ground, and interactive maps to help you plan your trip with everything you need, right in your pocket. To do that, we favour overland travel over flying, buy local, and choose accommodation and businesses run by local people. Travelling far, yes, but with our impact in mind.
